A
Skertru Hópr

Front <south> above,
Rear <north> is below.

This is my vision of the first
Skertru Hópr Structure. The vertical walls on the outer
structure will be black in color, possibly even black
non-reflective glass, and alternative would be
coppertoned glass, this will allow the people within to
be able to fully view the outside forest <see
below> and/or environment so as not to fully separate
us from nature even though we would be within a
structure. This glass will also allow the growth a
yew tree in the center of the Hópr able to be exposed to
the nourishment of the sun through the glass and able to
grow high into the open structure.
There will be a modern
basement for possible living quarters for the Goði or
Gyðja. The roof shingles will be made from Yew if
possible. The infrastructure will be made from Yew if
possible, otherwise Ash or Pine. The Hópr will be easily accessible
and seen by the general public and will have modern
features just as would any structure in this century,
though these modern influences will not be visible, this
includes lighting. The Hópr will be heated by radiant
heat technology, this heat will be hidden in the
flooring, the heat will rise through the floor <hot
water moved through pipes under the flooring>. The
cooling system, if needed, will have vents facing upwards
so as not seen by the eye <same as the lighting>.
These vents will be in the "upper levels" of
the Hópr structural support beams which will allow for
the cold air to "fall" down toward the lower
levels just as in winter the heat will "rise"
from the floor.

This entrance is similar to the
Hopperstad Stave Church. The first thing noticeable is the
color of the pillars at the entrance of the Hópr. The
right pillar will be stained reddish in color to
represent the Aesic influences, the Aesir, and the
conscious. The left pillar will be bluish in color to
represent the Vanic influences, the Vanir, and the
subconscious. You may not be able to see in this picture,
but the two pillars rise to the center. Over both of
these pillars, uniting them will be stained a yellowish
color to represent the balance of the Aesic and the
Vanic, Aesir and the Vanir, conscious and subconscious,
i.e. Skertru. In the center if this, above the entrance,
will be the Skergard logo to represent the ideals we
uphold.
All Hópar will be
handicapped accessible.

This is my how I envision the North
wall of the Hópr. The wood you see is the color and
texture of Yew. The panes structural support is runic in
design. This picture does not include the structural
pillars or the altar. As you can see, although this is the
northern wall, there will be more than adaquate sunlight
to support the growth of a Yew tree. Above what is in
this picture is yet another tier of glass and Yew making
the uppermost tier.
