Basic
explanations of some Holidays, please refer to
the chart for the dates and the gods:
Holidays/Festivals
with same dates for Northern and Southern
Hemispheres:
January
1. The Skertru New Year. The Skertru year is 3103
years ahead of the common calander and is based
on the first compiled religious writing about our
gods. The Northern Hemesphere also celebrates
Holdes Offering on this night.
February
14. Festival of Love. This is a day to
celebrate Freyja and the gifts of love and human
interaction that she gives to us.
July
10. Gimli. This is a holiday to celebrate
the gifts the gods have given us, and how we can
give gift for gift.
October
15. Runic New Year (optional, for those who use
it).
The Runic New Year is 250 years ahead of Common
Era. It is believed that Ošinn taught the Runes
to mankind in the year 250 Before Common Era
(Skertru New Year see January 1).
October
31. Halja-nacht (Halloween). (optional)
Halja-nacht is the night of Halja, the Goddess of
Helgard. This night it is believed that the Dead
walk the Earth. It is traditional for some to
play pranks on this night. (es similar a Dia de
los Muertos)
November
11 Hero's Day. Hero's Day is the day for
remembering our heroic family members, or other
heroic persons, who have died for a just cause.
It is also the day to recognize those who have
died for upholding their ideals.
Holidays/Festivals
that vary per Hemisphere:
Midwintersblot. This is a holiday that
celebrates the Aesir and the Vanir, and ask for
their blessing during this season.
Fimbul
Winter. This is a Holiday for Ullr and
Skadhi and the constructive activities of winter
are recognized and appreciated or acknowledged.
Thorrablót. The
first Friday that falls between the 19th and 25th
in the month following Yule. Thorrablót is a
Holiday to praise all of the Gods, and ask for a
milder winter, a great feast or Sumble is
preferred.
Ošinns
Vision. This is a Holiday for Ošinn and
Holde and the acknowledgement of the gift Holde
gave to him, and thereby him to mankind.
Ostara. Ostara is the celebrated
triumph of Summer over Winter (and may be
celebrated at a later date as need be). It is
traditional to write prayers to Ostara on raw
eggs, and throw them into the air, jump, and
catch the egg. It is also traditional to tie
prayers to a sacred tree at this time.
Tree
Planting. This day it is requested that we
plant a tree, Ošinn and Fjorgynn are given
offerings.
Walpurga. Walpurga is the day
following Walpurgisnacht, Walpurga is generally
known as May Day in the Northern Hemisphere. It
is traditional that the Maypole Dance be
performed on this day (a fertility rite). Freyr
and Freyja are given offerings.
Charming

daughter of Žórr, on this day the equipment
used for gardening and farming are blessed.
Midsummer

This is a day for Freyja and the
preparations are made for the Midsummer Holiday
(possible wedding arrangements are finalised).
Midsummer. Midsummer
is the celebration of the longest day. It is
traditional for marriages or betrothals to be
celebrated on this day.
Brygg-dag. Brygg-dag is Brewer's
Day. It is about this time that the grains are
harvested for making Ales for Yule. It is also
traditional to bake bread during this time.
Winternights
(Fall Evennight). Winternights is the acknowledged
triumph of Winter over Summer. It is traditional
to hold a great feast at this time (similar to
the American Thanksgiving).

time of celebration and merriment. It is believed
that the Vanic twins, Freyr and Freyja, were born
during this time, on the final night of Yule it
is custom to eat herring as an offering of thanks
to Holde..
