Skertru when translated means "Cliff-True" or "True to the Cliffs".

What is Skertru?

Skertru is basically the belief is Skerbók and 19th century Norse-Faith writings which it summarises. Above all else the religious writings of the Victorian Enlightenment along with Skerbók supercede the writings of those who have written work based solely on other 20th or 21st century writings.

Skertru (pronounced "skur-true") is a combination of the best of Asatru and Vanatru. Asatru a Teutonic based belief system that bases most of its belief system on the Poetic Edda as well as academic studies and Sagas; individuals who are Asatru follow the ways of more Aesir than Vanir in general. Vanatru is a belief system that is based on intuition rather than academics and is more "nature oriented"; individuals who are Vanatru follow the ways of the Vanir over the Aesir.

Skertru teaches us to be both Aesic and Vanic in order to experience the religion as a complete and balanced whole. Although we orient ourselves toward being either Aesic or Vanic this may cause us to lead "unbalanced lives" and we try to recognize this before it happens by incorporating the ways of our opposing path in our everyday life.

Skertru is the belief in [Skerbók] the Skapamál, The Profecy of Nanna, Holy Days, The Skertru Edda, and either the Aesir Saga or the Vanir Saga or both [more Skertru writing here]; along with Victorian age (19th century) scholarly works. The Skapamál is the story of the creation of the Universe; it is based on all known academia as well as science. The The Profecy of Nanna is the prophecy of Nanna and it foretells the end of the Universe and the beginning of the next one; it is based on all known academia as well as the science of quantum physics. The Holy days are self explanatory, the most important are the days of Yule during which we eat herring. The Skertru Edda contains The Lay of Creation, Voluspa, Havamal, The Catalog of Dwarves, The Death of Baldr, and the Prophecy of Nanna, it is our translation and it also provides the origional Old Norse. The Aesir Saga is the story of the Aesir, it is a compilation of all known sources about the Aesir, based on lore and academia. The Vanir Saga is the story of the Vanir and the creation of the Earth, it is based on intuition, science and academia.

One does not have to be of the Skertru belief to join Skergard. Skergard is open to everyone, as stated in the Membership Requirements.
